The infamous "Hash". After Hudson was absorbed by Nash in 1955, they simply slapped Hudson badges on Nash cars until 1957. Some '55's and a few '56's at least had the famous Hudson "Twin-H" 308 engines, but even that stopped when they ran out, and then began putting AMC and Packard engines in.
These cars were long the red-headed stepchildren of the Hudson line for enthusiasts, but just in the last 10 or 15 years, have become more accepted. Even though they're not Hudsons, they are pretty good cars. A couple of guys with good reps in the HET club have begun to specialize in them, which has helped the street cred quite a bit.
An even bigger travesty was the "Packabaker"- Studebaker absorbed Packard in 1956, and for '57 and '58, they badged Studebakers as Packards. The '58 was particularly revolting- the front end looked like a feeding carp.
A sad end for two proud car lines, but life goes on. Thanks for posting that pic- and actually, except for the red wheels and the dance hall banner, I think that one is absolutely rock stock. They came out with a lot of "bling", to try (in vain) to entice buyers.
