I buy all my filters every year in march. CarQuest has a big sale, 40-60% off. Like Napa, they are also made by Wix. I used to spend around $800 a year in filters. This year it cost $375 with the special sale. As far as oil I use the manufacturer specified oil weight in everything. I am not brand specific but I tend to use either Rotella or Cenex in the equipment and Kendell or Cenex in the autos.
