Well, Oldies are Goodies, but Newies are much nicer to use in every respect. Keep in mind that if the older designs were perfect, then the newer designs would have failed in the market. The old Fords are missing so many useful things: Power Steering, Live PTO, Live Hydraulics, Mechanical front wheel drive, Differential lock, shock absorbing seat, foot throttle, shuttle shift, etc. For loader work, pay attention to having a hydraulic system that can keep the power steering going while operating the loader rams. There's nothing worse than manuvering in a tight area and suddenly finding the steering has gone away because you are lifting the loader! Also, a shuttle shift makes it nice, since you have as many reverse gears as forward gears. That's really handy with a loader. My loader machine is a newer tractor, even though I have several pre-1960 machines. I would cringe at the idea of trying to perform loader work on my old 1956 JD 420 with limited hydraulic capacity and no power steering!
