In the last 17 years I painted close to 100 barns in Southwestern Minn and as far away as Brookings SD. Most were for older folks who wanted the place to look "new" one more time. During the process I got to know the owners and the history of these old barns. Human nature being what it is the children of these old couples were interesting as most wanted their parents to have that last chance to see their history made new again but sad to say you could see others thinking it was a waste of their inheritance money. Now days the common thing is push everything down and bury it. I really enjoyed working with these people and always took time to visit with them and share a cup of coffee. I always remember one lady who went to the effort of making a huge dinner complete with "Goose-Berry Pie" Haven't had that in years but savored each bite. Matter of fact I am going to paint their barn again this year. She is 97 and moved into a assisted living last fall just for the winter and is planning on being there this summer when I paint it again.
