Edd makes a good point, it's great to say you'll get all the hay of before it blooms, but it rarely happens. My fields are usually too wet to get out early and the weather never does what I need it too. Reed Canary makes decent hay if you can get it early. Thing is it tend to grow in low fields that never dry out till the middle of July or later and by then the stuff is 4 foot tall and stemmy. Around here Orchard usually follows Timothy for blooming. Last year the Orchard was 3 weeks ahead of the Timothy! You never know what a year will bring.
