Got the genny working today. Thanks to JMOR for the wiring diagram for a 4 wire regulator. Someone had put a 3 wire delco regulator on, which didn't work. After removing it we discovered there were mounting holes for the new 4 wire regulator. All books showed a 4 wire regulator too. Go figure, someone had thought a 3 wire would work. BTW, We couldn't guy a 3 wire regulator.
Had to bend the tab on the voltage relay armature to losen the spring tension. The voltage on the new regulator went over 16.25v. After 3 attempts the voltage now is close to 14.5v. Friend is happy. George

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
