Speaking of copperheads and scorpions. When I was stationed at Ft. Hood way back when and out in the bushes and tall grass, heard some thrashin around in the grass, and was a copperhead that made the mistake of slithering over a huge nest of fire ants. They came out of that hole in record time and there was nothing left of that guy within minutes. And then I sat on a rotted tree trunk. Got up, put my boot on it and kicked some rotted bark off, never seen so many scorpions scatter like that. The more bark I kicked off, the more of them there were. And I was sitting on them. And one time I too was standing on a somewhat soft mound and got bit on the hand by something. Looked down, fire ants all over my NBC suit. Good thing I was wearing it, and good thing was a bunch of fellow soldiers there to knock them off after took a few steps and dove on the ground to try and rub them off. Goodness gracious. A day in life can be boring, or exciting.
