I read somewhere that in the past ten years South Dakota and North Dakota farmers/ranchers converted 1.2 million acres to crop land. Some guys even push the dugouts back to level so they don't have to farm around that extra quarter of an acre. It is how things are for the time being- high grain prices have made grazing land more valuable as farm land. But this has happened before and history will repeat itself. The corrections in the farm economy have already begun... I farm and raise cattle so I'm not for or against either side, but it seems like too much of anything, one way or the other, is never good. Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
