I clearly remember Dad's axe and chopping block. I learned what " running around like a chicken with its head chopped off" meant first hand. I even did a bannie rooster when Mom had something other than chicken on the menu. I thought if I killed it she'd have to cook it. Instead, I went crying to her saying: "I don't know what happened. I hit it with the hatchet and his head fell off!" I think Dad made me pay for that one too.
