It's nonsense. Funny story my exmark zero turn mowers have a sticker on the hydro tank to use only Mobil 1 15-40 weight oil for the hydro system. Well my mower had a slow leak from the pump for 2 seasons. I got sick of buying Mobil 1 so I just started using 15-40 Diesel engine oil in it, that i have in a 55 gallon drum on hand, worked fine. I finally replaced the pump, went to the dealer and asked for a quart of Mobil 1, he gives me this whole bull story of how you don't use mobile one anymore, Mobil took out some additive and it was runing hydro pumps, ect, now you have to use exmark premium hydro oil. I just laughed and told him I'd been using 15-40 oil in it. He looked red faced. I remember years ago they said never mix synthetic motor oil with non synthetic oil, now they sell it as a blend.??? It's all just bs. I run the proper weight recommended for the engine and that's it, I never had any oil related problems.
