I feel like an idiot even asking on this matter but I'm stumped. I have a 66 3020 diesel that we just overhauled and it runs like crap. Before anybody makes jokes or roles their eyes, we've done these for almost 20 years without a problem until now. I had the pump done at Area Diesel in Illinois and got four new nozzles from the same place. They are the "pencil" type nozzles. Anyway, the tractor starts great, has good oil pressure and doesn't have any smoke out of the ordinary. The problem is that it has a missfire that comes and goes. If you run it up to about 1400rpm it gets really bad. I can't isolate it to any one cylinder. If you crack lines, it drops that cylinder completely. The original pump was timed at 14 degrees but the paperwork I got with the rebuilt pump said to time it to TDC because it is timed to end of injection rather than the beginning as it was originally. I've been down this road before updating pumps on ten series and early 20 series tractors. This pump has the labeled covers that say "timed end inj". Need some help on this one guys.
