I went from a 2006 one ton diesel to the Ecoboost which I use to pull a fifth wheel weighing 8,000#. Going up Santiam pass at 60 mph it will pick up speed at any time pulling the camper - about all you can ask or need. I wanted the max tow package (11,300#) and you can"t get it with the 5.0 V8 which is one reason I went to the Ecoboost. Towing is around 10 mpg and empty I"ve seen almost 23 on secondary roads which is pretty good for a 4 x 4 supercab. It"s been flawless - and the peak torque is around 2,000 rpm so it doesn"t scream like a V8 when pulling a load. The diesel had turbo lag - the Ecoboost doesn"t. It"s quick. However, it I wasn"t pulling a fifth wheel, I would have gone for the 5.0.
