With no pics available I'm taking a guess . I believe the replacement governor you picked up is for an 8n due to that threaded hole you mentioned . That threaded hole is a male type - correct ? Well that's where a tac/hr meter cable connects on an 8n . 9n tractors didn't come with a tac/hr meter . But in later 1951 the 8n started coming out with a tac/hr meter installed which of course used a governor with the mateing hole for the cable . HTH ! God bless , Ken.
