I think that they would interchange. They both are 3.8 liter motors. They both where British Motor Corp. engines. The 384 had a longer stroke and was 70 HP over the 262 with a shorter stroke and 57 HP.
I am not real familiar with the Leylands but a friend has one and I have worked on it before.
