The spaces are wider at the bottom than at the top. It's been a long time since I've seen the bottom of one but I'd guess the slot is3/4" at the top and 2"-3" at the bottom. It will still take a healthy loader and a well ballasted rear end. Hog buildings normally have a slope away from them and a tippy loader tractor on a slope is no good. A 3000 pound weight swinging from a loader that's fairly high is dangerous. A week ago I went to the funeral of an old neighbor who had a narrow front loader tractor go over on him on a slight slope. Be careful.
