This is enough to pull my already grey hair out.
Though I may have it figured out several times but get the motor back together far enough to check it with the limited tools I have and found out I was wrong. 0 oil pressure. Was getting plenty of oil to the cam area from the amount that was draining back to the pan; just no pressure. Found a recite for 12 new lifters and push rods with the correct part numbers but noticed I was not getting oil to the top of the head. Figure it is because of the no pressure problem.
So only thing to do is tear it all the way down and check everything again. While the rebuilder was willing to go threw motor again; if he found nothing wrong I would pay the shipping and shop bill; so I figure I better check everything I could before sending it back.
I get all the way down to the lifters. Look brand new but when measured with a mic they are not right. Boxed or built wrong. Get a new set of lifters. 2 of these do not look right so I exchange them for 2 more.
12 new lifters; new gaskets; and many hours pulling my hair out and I got over 60 lbs oil pressure and oil to the rockers with a 3/8 drill.
I think we finally got this dang thing figured out.

But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo.
