There's a farm near me that doesn't even break ground til the end of June. They plant around July 1st every year and every year they have a bumper crop of fine looking corn. I don't know how they do it, but I've been watching them for almost 20 years and it never varies.
Same family bought a brand new Ford tractor some years back, a 5610 I think, and returned it a few days later because the draw bar was a couple inches higher than their other 2 Ford tractors and ordered another tractor based on drawbar height! The only guy I ever see there wears a "farmer uniform" like something from an ad in the 1950s. In fact, the clothing might be from 1950! Never a speck of dirt or mud on him or the equipment. Even the spreader is clean. Only people I've ever heard of that wash their spreader out every day. When it starts to rust they get a new one.
To each their own, but I think the best word to describe them is "odd", maybe eccentric.
