Timing is very important in these engines and a displaced woodruff on the crank/flywheel interface can be a problem as can a bad fitting flywheel. Otherwise the spacing of the mag to the flywheel. We usually used a brown grocery bag as the feeler gage, not the heavy duty like in a big box store, but the one in grocery stores. Loosen the screws with the magnet right on the mag and let it suck up the mag. Lock her down and remove the paper.
