mine did that when i got it too, i removed the hydraulic unit and put a kit in it, but what we discovered the real problem was is there is a screen tube in the bottom of the hydraulic unit it is accessible from the rear of the unit, [ the side facing the seat when its onthe tractor], nobody had cleaned this screen since 1949! guess they didnt know it was there i didnt either, but it was so blocked off with gunk that it was restricting the flow of fluid, making the lift arms jerk up and down
