Are they listening to his questions or fears?

Don"t expect that they should be perfect.
Just hope they"re consistant and fair;
That they"ll measure their mount by his effort,
And not by how others compare.

Now, question how you would be actin,
If you and the horse were the same;
Could you perform to their satisfaction?
Or would you finish up hardmouthed and lame?

You"re wonderin why this is important?
Young friend, what I"m saying is true;
They"re on for the long ride that"s comin,
And the horse that they"ve saddled is you.
