Had a similar problem but not as bad when I replaced the hand metering unit or steering valve attached to the steering wheel because it was worn a little and had some internal leakage. The internal leakage required the driver to turn the wheel slightly clockwise while roading to remain parallel/straight. A salvage yard sold me a nearly new valve from an MM combine which they said would work. However it didn't and I had some of your steering problems that weren't quite so pronounced. The salvage yard also had a nearly new valve for considerably more money ($1000) that was removed from an similar tractor many years ago that was gathering dust because no one was willing to fork over the cash. No parts to rebuild the old one and the "new" one didn't work so rather than go backwards I coughed up the money and it works great. Thus I would first check and be sure someone didn't swap-in an incorrect unit
