Got most of the answers I was looking for. John won in Sept, 1954. On Friday he won the statewide contour plowing contest. A fellow from Minooka won level land plowing. This was held near Odin Illinois. The next day John won the national contest; he had first tried in 1948. He went to Sweden the following year, 1955. Oliver Corp. donated an Oliver 77 diesel and 2-bottom plow for the overseas match. Evidently it was a special plow with more adjustments, and over there it was a special "old world" type plowing.
