I was given Doxycycline for 30 days each time I have known I was bitten....that started 15 years ago. Have taken the pills 3 times.
I have a lot of arthritic pain (some possibly from doing carpenter work and just old age)that gets worse every year.
Very political disease. A MUST see documentary called "Under our skin" touches on the political and insurance side of the disease.
My friend was diagnosed about the same time I first was and his Dr. prescribed a series of 3 injections called "Limerex". Later found out that they should only have been administered before, not after being bitten. (Class Action Lawsuit Followed)
He is now on full disability because of this disease. Don't mess around if you think you have been bitten. My Dr. says the spyrocite never leaves your body. I have seen documentaries that predict Lyme will be at epidemic proportions in the near future.
Another recent documentary called "Ice Man" says they found the lyme spirocyte in the tissue of this Prehistoric man and that he had arthritis as well.
Best of luck to you and your wife....I hope all the best for you!
