George, Good suggestion on the screen wire for covering the A/C. I used to do that, but recently haven't,don't know why I quit. Time for me to reconsider it.
We thought about a central A/C,but as you pointed out,lots of loss from ducting,plus if it breaks down were S.O luck. I was telling my son about the poor mans A/C, had a metal pan with a drain tube that held a 50# block of ice, behind it was a fan pushing air around the ice for cold air.I also remember the A/C in the desert that was nothing more than a water pump spraying water over a grid type membrane and a fan pulling in the air, works great in the desert, also had a tank type that fit in the auto window cooling it down as you were driving across the desert.
