My first bull: Answered ad in paper. Took trailer to farm. Guy was a rancher but had no loading chute...loaded out of his barn with a couple of home made mickey mouse panels. I thought that was pretty crude for a breeder selling his stock. Told him that if the bull passed the fertility test I'd take him. Went to the vet......female.....strictly business as it should be. He passed handily. I told her to give him a tranquilizer as he had never been in a trailer before. Got him home and was still slightly dopy. Was lying down in the trainer with his head up. I get to the pasture gate where the "girls" are and they wasted no time in coming to see what was in the trailer. Drove in and they surrounded it. He looked around and I bet he thought he had died and gone to heaven! Ha. Let him out and lots of frolicking.
I use black bulls and in 35 years only saw one mount during the day. Since I had calves along, it had to happen at night.
