Guido, never raised basil. My small garden is a no till. Never got the tiller out this year. Used backhoe to clean trash off garden and put that mess in mulch pile for flowers a few years from now. Made 12 inch postholes 3 ft deep. Used chicken wire to keep critters from eathing tomato and peppers. Put down last years grass clippings and have very few weeds to pull. My postholes are rain barrels. They are about 8 inches deep, fill with water and my clay will absorb it when it gets around do it. Add a pinch of lime and ferterlizer every few weeks. Only one ripe tomatoe. Need sunlight. Had plenty of rain. George
