Todd you must never have owned a JD New generation tractor. I am a JD guy and will never own one to use again. They run terrible on the new gas formulations. I fought a JD 3020 gas on the feeder wagon for years and finally just sold it and switched to a diesel.
The GAS one never did run right very long. If you have them lean enough that they will not foul plugs then they will not take throttle. If you rich them up so they will take throttle then they will foul the plugs often. I do mean often. Like one every few weeks. It got to where I kept a spare set in the tractor tool box and a spinner wrench to do quick changes in the middle of chores.
Also gas maybe 50 cents per gallon cheaper but that diesel tractor could very well use half the fuel that a JD 3010 gas would use if pulled at all. Had family with JD gas tractors. When we used to plow they would have to fill at lunch and supper. The diesel maybe at supper. I have seen a JD 3010 use fifty gallons of gas a day plowing.
If you want a gas tractor of that age buy a Oliver, IH, Ford but not a JD.
