Yesterday it would seam everything must have lined up just right to dump 3 waves of hard rain on use. My rain gauge said 3 1/4 inches in an hour 1/2 of raining. This is on top of the 9 inches we have had since the start of July so no one is doing anything in the fields (and they don't really look good anyway). After the rain had stopped I called mom and dad to check on them and there electric was off and dad was having trouble getting the generator started so off I went to help mom and dad keep the basement dry.

Leaving the house I noticed the road ditch was full witch is the first time in 17 years to see that. The first (picture) water over the road was a surprise to say the least. Notice how clear the water is, This is watershed off 3 to 400 acres of long time no-till ground and didn't do any good to the new fence this guy had built last year. 2nd picture is the aftermath of last nights rain. Next 2 pics are on the same road to get to the state hi-way.

The last two are pictures of the two fields before you get to our farm and to see that much water standing I was expecting the worst when I got to mom and dads place. To my surprise there was no real water standing which was good, I guess all the clean up work and clearing I did this spring helped a lot. Got the generator running in a short time and got the sump pumps running again and kept the house dry. The electric went off at 5.30 pm and came on at 12.45 am, They are on the end pole of the electric line so there electric goes off a lot it seams. Today I gave the generator a tune up and got it ready for the next big rain, I know ones coming. Bandit

Today's Featured Article - Listening to Your Tractor - by Curtis Von Fange. Years ago there was a TV show about a talking car. Unless you are from another planet, physically or otherwise, I don’t think our internal combustion buddies will talk and tell us their problems. But, on the other hand, there is a secret language that our mechanical companions readily do speak. It is an interesting form of communication that involves all the senses of the listener. In this series we are going to investigate and learn the basic rudimentary skills of understanding this lingo. ... [Read Article]
