Stake for corn planter check wire. Not sure about others, but for the J D horse drawn planter, the loop at the top wasn't completely closed. There was a bracket on the lift lever, hang the stake upside down there, hook the wire in the loop, swing gently side to side when rolling up the wire when down planting. Made nice level job of rolling the wire. Also made a handy tool for stretching up a short span of barbed wire fence. Hook it on a barb, place one side around the post, lean into it with your back. Do one span at a time. Willie

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard.
