Now that you mention it we cut corn sileage down here. Don't have any silos to speak of so we just put it on the ground and cover it with a white plastic tarp. Some guys roll that and green grass and white plastic wrap the bales. Seems to work.
On the tons of corn in the crib per acre, that's why I was wondering on the ear size on a tall vs short stalk.
