So, you have to shift down, that's what the gears are for! Lots bigger loads were hauled a lot farther with smaller engines a few years ago. Everyone thinks they have to go 70+ mph all the time! How often are you going to haul the tractor? If you are doing it every week then maybe more power would be nice, but only 30 miles once in awhile! I had an 81 300 6 with a 4 speed that would pull that small load with no problem. Heck, if you could load it you could haul an A in the box!
