I am restoring my dad"s 1951 WD, but I am having trouble mounting the rear rims. They are the power assist variety with four rails. After painting the center dishes and powder coating the silver rims, is there a special technique to mounting the clamps to those rails? Each clamp has a spin-out cam with a spacer that tightens up on the rail when the locking nut is turned a half turn. I was told by an Allis mechanic to mount the center dish first and then mount the silver rim to it, but after tightening the first clamp, as I turned the wheel to go to the next clamp, the little spacer falls out of the first clamp I tightened down. Should I start with the rail with the four holes? Also I want to mount the tires so they are extended all the way out. Do I need to first install the rims and tires with the wheel all the way in, and then spin it out? I am being careful not to scratch the powder-coat finish. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks

The main focus of this page is to show how I upgr
