FWIW- I'm entirely in favor of offshore drilling, coal, nukes, solar, wind, cow farts, whatever it takes. I'm also in favor of reasonable oversight. I can not seriously believe the gas and oil industries want fires and wrecked rigs. Human error seems to be the deciding factor. I don't enjoy working by candle light or the prospect of $20.00 a gal gas or diesel. Those who are so in favor of a ban on oil and gas drilling, an end to coal, etc. should spend a few winters up here. Winter generally runs from late September or mid October until mid April at least. Temps of -30f or lower, with wind, plus the joys of 7 hours of actual day light, might change their minds.
