I had a simalar problem with my 48 Cub. Replaced whole ignition system including coil in mag and kill switch. I found out the hard way my little Cub likes to run Champion D21 plugs. The D15Y's the IH dealer sold me gave it heart burn. 10 bucks give them a try. : I have a '48 Cub that was running fine for years
