I used Primestar when it first came out also and got tired of Mike Rowe's face telling us how great it was when you were already a customer. There were enough commercials as it was for something you had to pay to get.
Then went to DirecTV and got tired of their price gouging. Now I'm with Dish and it's better than DTV but still not all that great.
What chaps you is that you have to take the basic package and all that is is commercial after commercial...then you get religion, and a bunch of stuff for sale, the cooking shows, and the hyped up real estate sales sham (opinion) and this and that which I don't care for, but I am not the general public. Once you get past that basic cost you can settle down into some movie channels that are commercial free and usually pretty good entertainment.
I'd still take it over just local channels. My bill has inched back up to $64.

I did keep everything I replaced for the day I do want to restore her to showroom condition.
