Maybe, but in this country, those are illegal or certainly out of fashion.
My opposition to capital punishment is because with the automatic appeals and other things a death sentence cause, it ends up costing WAY more than just warehousing the convict for the rest of their life. But "life" should not mean 20 or 30 years. It should mean that they remain imprisoned until after their last heartbeat occurs.
And prison should not be comfortable or pleasant in any way. However having no rewards for GOOD behavior might make it a whole lot harder to manage a bunch of prisoners, so maybe some things should remain. But no weight rooms or fitness centers. And maybe not control over what is on TV, if they have TV at all. Imprisonment should be done in the least expensive manner possible, at least for people CONVICTED of horrible crimes.
From what I read, the defendant and his lawyers made a deal to take the death penalty off the table. And with such an agreed-upon deal, it is a whole lot harder to successfully appeal the sentence in the future. In theory, he will never come out of prison alive.
Castro should never see freedom again, and I suspect that he will need to be in protective custody to avoid another inmate ending his sentence prematurely.
I agree with doing whatever is necessary to protect society from the most dangerous criminals, and I agree with this sentence, since it probably will save the state money over what it might have cost for a death sentence.

It increased the farm productivity and, in general, made life easier because more work could be done with this 'mechanical beast'. My dad dreamed that some day he would have his own tractor with every implement he could get. When he rea
