They are like all sickle bar mowers. It really depends on what you want to cut. Thick stemmed grass and weeds cut well. Fine short grass does not cut well. Also the sickle being centered in front of the power unit sometimes causes issues with the falling cut material.
You will not have time to try one out before your auction. I would really recommend renting one and trying it out before buying one but you don't have time for that.
So it comes down to what you have to mow. If it is shorter fine grass then you will not like them. IF it is taller coarser grass and weed then it will serve you well.
