JD #5 Oil Seal

The oil seal behind the Pitman arm flywheel is leaking badly. The pitman flywheel looks as if it is pressed on and on the other end of the shaft the chain drive sprocket is threaded onto the shaft. Do I need to take both off to get to this seal or can I just pull the Flywheel off, (after last night doesn't seem like it is an easy task). Owner's manual doesn't have any info on this and I'm waiting for the parts manual to show up. Any advice would be greatly appreciatted.
