My daughter was a meth user, then she had a baby and I was hoping she had cleaned up her act. Well, the baby boy (we were worried cause she had previously had a child who had multiple birth defects and died after 4 days) was born healthy but she started hanging out with her old friends. Unfortunately, she was nursing the baby. She was living with us but disappeared one day with the baby. Then I found out she was accusing me of abusing her and her siblings when she was a child. Luckily her siblings knew the truth and defended me. Anyway Oregon has a law that if convicted of giving your child drugs (through nursing for example) you go to prison for 3 years. After turning her into DHS we finally found her and talked her into turning herself in. They took the child away from her but she had cleaned up her act by then and after a trial dropped the charges. Luckily for the child (he's 8 now) the father came forward and got custody of him and that was the best thing that could happen for the child and us. Our daughter is 39 now and basically homeless and an alcoholic. Sorry for the long winded speech but I appreciate the opportunity to unload.
