We had M551"s in my cavalry outfit in Korea -- B Troop, 4th Squadron, 7th Cavalry (Custer"s old unit). B Troop was on a tiny compound of its own. The Imjin River was visible from highest point of the northern fence. Took a ride in an M551 but never saw it float.
I had an M113 APC powered by a wheezy 361 Chrysler gas that got replaced with an M113A1 with a 6-cylinder Detroit diesel. MOS 11B40.
