farmerjohn basically stole the words from my mouth.
I go every year. My dad can't walk that much anymore, and it almost brought a tear to my eye to read about his dad.
I know what that is like.
The show is pretty good. Not many food vendors. It'ns not like a fair. You can't get commercial foods, just a few local clubs.
There are a lot of vendors for machinery, but, the last day, it's pretty bare. You will see big ag displays. All the big named guys are there and the field demos are good, but not well advertised around the grounds. You have to know when the bus is leaving to get to the field demos. There is a lot of lines to stand in and if you have young kids, it gets boring for them in a hurry.
It's a nice place, at the base of a mountain, but if you plan on going the last day, you will see lots of empty places.
If you are leaving Philadelphia and heading across the state, it is better to follow the PA turnpike. Unless you are heading to route 80... That is not on your route.
The whole setup is good. I like the layout. I just feel like going there on the last day is not a good idea. going during the height of activity is better.
There is a bit of walking, but it is good. I like seeing the vendors. I like seeing the big stuff, but if you are looking for really big stuff, you get one to see. The big guys aren't around there. If you like seeing a lot of looging equipment, lots of small farm equipment, and seeing lots of American corn, then it is not bad. I have been to much better. The show at Ohio State University is stellar! That is a place you can walk around for days.
I am not sure what you are looking for but if it's a smaller show at the base of a very old mountain, with lots of smaller displays, then AG Progress is the place(especially if you are a dairy man. That place is built for the diary guys.)
I hope I helped. I wish I knew your route from Philadelphia. I could help you on this end of PA. there are lots of places that are a must see if I knew what you were looking for.

Today's Featured Article - Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
