About 2 years ago, I ordered a rebuilt Carter YFA carburetor from National Carburetor in Florida for my 1980 F-100. About the time the warranty ran out, it started flooding in a major way, but only every few weeks. At this time I had put less than 15000 miles on the carburetor. In the past I have been able to tap on it to jar the float and/or needle valve loose and go. I have had it apart a couple of times and cleaned it, set the float to factory specs, replaced the needle valve and seat, etc... but it keeps doing the same thing. Has anyone else run into this? I would buy and aftermarket replacement if I could find one. We had some awful Carter carburetors on Dodges when I was a child, and apparently this one is no better.
