He wasn't a tractor, but went along like one. He was only 6'2" and went 300#. He was the first Colt into the Hall of Fame. But you'd think you were run over by a tractor if he ran over you. He was one of the first classics. His smile was like the grill on an Oliver, and the pull of a big Farmall. His laugh was like a 2 Lunged JD, just always there and putting along. Reliable and tough.
He's being given a service in Baltimore today- he passed a few days ago of a respiratory infection. May ARTIE DONOVAN play many games in heaven- he has earned it. Great guy, good friend to many. And a legend on the field.
