I've got to agree with maark, it looks to me like it's one of the old Kohlers. While they do look alot like the Onans, the Onan fan shroud is more rounded while the one on the Kohler is square like the one in the pic. Coming from a mower I'd again agree with maark in saying it's probably something like a KT17. Click on the link to see the manual and a pic.
