The odor is indescribable! Without a doubt the worst odor I have ever encountered in my life. I don"t think there would be anything that would completely remove the odor so a person with a good sense of smell would not object to it.
I agree that the vehicle would probably be sold as salvage, and possibly someone would try to clean it up and get rid of the odor, in hopes of selling it to someone. And they might be successful if the buyer had little or no sense of smell and the price was really good.
If a body laid in a vehicle for 6 weeks and it was not freezing weather, there would be considerable decomposition. All the body fluids would leak out and would soak into whatever was under the body. There would also probably be lots of insect activity. The odor would permeate the whole interior.
If I was going to try to fix up a vehicle that had a body decomposing in it for any length of time, the first thing I would do is to completely remove all of the interior, down to painted metal. Then I would try washing out as much of the mess as possible with strong detergent solution. Then I would pressure wash the interior. This process might need to be done several times with plenty of time for it to dry and air out.
When I got it as clean as I thought possible, I think I would try painting over the metal I had cleaned.
I would hope to get the interior from a similar wrecked vehicle. I would not plan to use anything from the old interior, since I do not think the odor would ever come out well enough. The headliner might be something that I would need help installing.
For me to consider trying to fix up such a vehicle, the vehicle would need to be in excellent shape otherwise, quite new, and not cost much at all to buy the salvage.
Even so, it might not be possible to get it so it didn"t smell repulsive. And you would HAVE TO tell the prospective buyer what the odor was from. But some people either do not have much sense of smell or do not care how something smells, and they might buy it anyway.
For my own personal use, I doubt that I could ever get over the idea that there was a really ugly odor in the rig.
