I've seen a dozen that look almost exactly the same on Amish farms up here. The sliding table type like that are just a little easier to use then the swinging table, especially with heavy wood. You can short of "fasten it" to the ground with rocks, stakes or letting it freeze in in winter! I mounted mine on skids and the long ends point back towards the tractor. I can stake it down pretty easy that way of pile a few logs on it for weight. The skids are 4x4x12 treated IIRC, might be 4x6x12'.
I love my old buzz saw. Beats a chainsaw any day of the week on pole wood. And no, you won't cut your hands off or lop off your head if you use the same caution you use with a chainsaw. In fact I think it's a bit safer.
