From an earlier post I placed several days ago:
I have an '89 Case 885 cab tractor with dual fuel tanks. This weekend I was traveling from one field to the next and it started to die just if it was running out of fuel. I crutched it along to the field and it died. I checked and had 2 full tanks of fuel. When I checked the filters they were empty. I replaced the filters and loosened the fuel filter drains and slowly the fuel started coming out. I got the tractor started again and was running sluggish as before. But this time I loosened the fuel filter drains and I could hear it pulling a vacuum and no fuel. I think I have fuel line clogged but is there anything else it could be?
Now for the update- After cleaning the tanks and all the lines, I ran a hose to a full 5 gallon diesel can directly to the hand primer pump. Crank the tractor and same scenario, cranks for a few minutes, sputters and dies. Filters again are dry and a vacuum has been pulled. So I by-passed the filters and ran a line from the 5 gallon tank to the injector pump. Cranked the tractor and ran perfectly, no sputter and never died. I replaced the hand primer pump and then same scenerio... crank, ran a couple of minutes and dies. I blew everything out and all lines are clear. Only thing left is to replace the fliter housing and filters. What am I missing?
