dandee66, Mags Do Go Bad!. On our Irrigation wells In the Tx-Okla Panhandle,, HD800 Minnie Mos, Mags were a wear Item, Freshly Rebuilt from an local guy who does this 5 days a week, all year long! I have seen then run for 2 to 3 yrs, some one week, others 24 hrs, others yet will start up and idle but wouldn't hold power under load! Mags are only as good as the repair parts put in them. I am not saying your local guy is using crappy parts,, On the Contrary sometimes he get in a batch that are bad for what ever reason. If the tractor will start, warm up andrun for a period of time then quit....I say the mag has something heating up and then kicking out and causing the engine to die. I bet it will start back when stone cold! Hope this helps. Later, John A.
