I would replace the cam belt idlers and adjuster while their also... They are great engines built by Mitsubishi that are pert near indestructible... The book show's them as free wheeling I have never seen a SOHC 3.0 bend a valve but its always possible... I normally go after the cam belt at 150K and they look like knew... I have wondered how far they can go on a cam belt how many miles does it have on it...
I also go after the thermostat any time I have the coolant drained,, the thermo gives trouble on every Chrysler mini van I have ever worked on no mater what engine is in it...
I get the pleasure of working on all makes Chrysler are the easiest to work on mechanically, electrical issues are nightmares :evil:
Theirs a support bracket that goes between the water pump rear housing and the rear cylinder head that's pert near impossible to remove unless you take the intake off... Its die grinder time to slot it and leave it alone...
The first one I installed a cam belt on I did not get the gasket between the rear water pump housing and block installed correctly on... It always amazes me how fast I can redo a 5hr. job when I am working for nuttin...
