I helped a new neighbor when they moved in one time. Didn't expect anything in return but a good relationship. His kid came over when we were square baling straw and said he wanted to help. Didn't take long for it to come out that his dad had sent him because he thought he owed me something and wanted to square it. I didn't appreciate it. If he had come over himself,yes,but to send his kid to do it just didn't sit well with me.
So just make sure you pay this guy in the right way so you don't insult him. Maybe discuss it first BEFORE you take the tractor over. If he says you won't owe him anything,he might just mean it if you're talking cash.
